Stuart Baxter has been on the prowl, and there seems to be a common factor in the acquisitions in his new crop at SuperSport United.
Matsatsantsa were one of the busiest teams in the transfer window, and they made headlines this week with the return of a former PSL Player of the Season winner. Tefu Mashamaite is no stranger to South African football, and every supporter knows the incredible talent the solid defender has.
During his time at Kaizer Chiefs, the ex-skipper was an instrumental figure in the heart of the defence under the tutorship of Amakhosi's then coach Stuart Baxter, and there is no doubt as to his contribution to the team's success.
However, after his move to Denmark-based outfit BK Hacken in Sweden, the South African became homesick and decided to make a move back home. Of course, arms were wide open for the tough-tackling centre back, and former coach Baxter set his target on "Masha"!
Now, there seems to be a trend forming at Matsatsantsa since Baxter has been at the helm in the team. When we look closely, there are a number of former Chiefs players who are now donning the United kit, and these were the same players who were largely responsible for the success Amakhosi achieved a couple of years ago. Could Baxter have something up his sleeves for this season? Only time will tell…
Do you think Chiefs will regret not bringing Tefu back to Naturena?
