From humble beginnings and selling clothes in a shop in Harare, Zimbabwe, to becoming a household name in South African football circles as well as grabbing the attention of international clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Khama Billiat has proved that dynamite can come in small packages.
Throughout the 2015/16 campaign, Billiat deservedly owned the headlines and swept up accolades in all directions. It would be great to know what Pitso Mosimane has been feeding him! All jokes aside, the 25-year-old has been incredible and it seems the inclusion of Coach Pitso in his career has brought out a new life in him.
During his time at Ajax Cape Town, he showed glimpses of a great potential. Under the wing of Foppe de Haan, the youngster was groomed to become a well-rounded footballer. Since he moved to Chloorkop, the Zimbabwean seems to have peaked and his amazing talent was vital in the club winning their seventh ABSA Premiership title.
Last night, Khamaldinho once again stole the headlines as he was the centre of attention at the end-of-season awards ceremony, where he bagged the Midfielder of the Season, Players' Player of the Season and the prestigious Footballer of the Season accolades. We can just imagine the smile on Billiat's face when he woke up this morning!
It is still a wonder that Khama has not been snatched up by a European club yet, but that will surely soon change as he has flung the doors wide open for a move overseas.
All credit to Khama Billiat, and we wish him more success in his blooming career!
Which European country do you think would be best for Billiat should he make an overseas move?
