Ajax Cape Town have lost a key individual between the sticks in Finland-born goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola, who signed for English side Reading FC. The shot-stopper was an instrumental figure as he held the last line of the Ajax defence and saved the team on countless occasions during matches.
Loyal Urban Warriors fan Gladys Gailey was shocked to hear about the transfer.
"What? Jaakkola has left the team? I did not know that this had happened, and I must say that it is a great loss for the team," she said.
"However, I believe that this now gives our younger goalkeeper, Jody February, a chance to prove himself."
With 20-year-old February being called out by the Ajax faithful to take over from Jaakkola, it would be up to coach Roger De Sa whether to give the youngster a chance in his squad or look for options elsewhere.
"He (February) has done fairly well for the SA U23 team and if he is given a chance, he will be a great goalkeeper for both Ajax and for the national team," Gailey continued.
"I don't see why we should look for another goalkeeper from another team."
Do you think De Sa should give February a chance to prove himself?
