Yet another ridiculous episode of South African football is playing out. The buying and selling of clubs, changing of provinces and names, and the switching of players. The latest is the sale of Mpumalanga Black Aces to John Comitis and the relocation of the club to Cape Town. On top of this, the club will not be renewing the contracts of seven players, including 2015/16 PSL top goalscorer Collins Mbesuma...
Some see this as an ultimately disrespectful move on the part of the new management. Others think it is nonsensical to let go of the top goalscorer in the league. The rest of the supporters are hoping that "Ntofontofo" makes a return to either Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates.
"Really? The top goalscorer? Aces are so ungrateful." – Mthombo_D_R_M
"Mbesuma won Golden Boot but no contract for him? Clarity please." – Chris Makgatela
"How can you not renew your club and PSL top goalscorer's contract? Pure madness. They will follow AmaZulu and Swallows." – madrisca
"Maybe Chiefs should buy Mbesuma." – thabotouchme
There are some exciting things on the horizon for South African football, so many questions unanswered… What will be the new name of Mpumalanga Black Aces? And where will Mbesuma end up next?
If you were in charge, would you let go of Mbesuma? What do you think Mpumalanga Black Aces should be called now?
