The main aim of every team in any league in the world is to win every game and to collect maximum points. However, in the case of Kaizer Chiefs, there was a long wait before the club finally secured their latest win in the PSL.
Amakhosi have always been the club that were the title chasers, title holders and cup specialists, earning them the status of being one of the biggest clubs in South Africa! But, just like anything in life, there are times of highs and lows, something the Chiefs faithful have now come to know all too well.
It has been proved that once supporters are continuously accustomed to their beloved teams being champions, it gets rather frustrating when results do not come their way. Just look at England's Manchester United, for instance. With numerous Premier League titles under their belt, as well as Uefa Champions League trophies, after the retirement of their veteran manager Sir Alex Ferguson, many fans were in uproar as coaches came and went due to poor results. But let's take a deeper look into this situation and something that Chiefs could take into consideration.
When United appointed Sir Alex, the club had no cup glory for three seasons, ending in positions such as 11th and 12th on the log, but they kept their faith in him, something which we would call “building”, but it does require patience, and not many fans are willing to give that to coaches.
Steve Komphela joined the Naturena-based club in 2015, and has already been put under the knife by the Khosi faithful. Given time, a well-balanced squad and some free rein, there could be positive change at Chiefs if Komphela sees the end of the season…
Do you think Komphela should be given more time?
