Soccer Laduma was recently ranked as the biggest publication in South Africa, and come Wednesday, another achievement is on the cards as the company reaches 1000 editions! A historical mark where, after 999 issues of quality features and interviews, we, the supporters, look forward to more enticing and mouthwatering football news.
I have been a loyal supporter of Soccer Laduma for the past 10 years, and I can remember walking into my living room at home every Wednesday to find a copy of the newspaper perched on the coffee table as my father was an avid reader.
I was never much of a bookworm or a lover of picking up a newspaper and reading it – my parents can confirm how they would go about forcing me to read – but somehow, whenever I saw an issue of Soccer Laduma, and I would spot it from a mile away, I would always be drawn to it. Maybe it was just my love for soccer, but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the content that was waiting inside its covers.
Today, as I sit here in the offices of the publication, I recall the days when I used to slip the paper into my school backpack and whenever I had a minute or two, I would take a sneak peek to see what was happening in the football fraternity. I believe that the vast majority of football knowledge I have gained over the years has been due to this publication and for the great work that continues to be done on it on a daily basis.
Here's to many more editions of Soccer Laduma, and may the publication continue to rise!
