African Football League Final
Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v Wydad Casablanca
Date: 12 November 2023
Venue: Loftus Versfeld
Time: 15h00
Sundowns conceded for the first time in the tournament and lost their first game after going 2-1 down to Wydad in the first-leg.
An own goal by Rivaldo Coetzee gave the Moroccan side the lead just before the break and the Brazilians levelled matters 16 minutes before time and got a vital away goal thanks to a penalty goal by Moroccan Abdelmounaim Boutouil. However, Anas Serrhat snatched the winner for the Red and Whites soon after that.
Rulani Mokwena's charges need to win by at least a goal without conceding to be crowned champions.
Wydad, meanwhile, need to at least avoid defeat or win by any scoreline to be the first champions.
The Moroccan giants have proven to be a hoodoo team for Sundowns, as the Brazilians have only won once in the last eight fixtures between the sides.
The last time Masandawana beat Wydad was in 2020 when they edged them 1-0 courtesy of a penalty goal by former defender Ricardo Nascimento in the CAF Champions League group stages.
