There could be a change in Richard Ofori’s situation at Orlando Pirates with the 2023/24 season set to go on recess due to the Africa Cup of Nations, the Siya crew has been reliably informed.
The Buccaneers’ fixture against on 23 December will be their 15th league match of the campaign and Ofori is yet to feature. It was reported in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that the Ghanaian international might have his contract at the club extended by one more year. His existing deal is set to expire in June, but the Soweto giants have an option to extend by one more year.
According to sources, Pirates are hoping Ofori will play for the Black Stars at the upcoming Afcon in Ivory Coast and do well to possibly attract interest from abroad. For the better part of the season, the team has had Melusi Buthelezi and Sipho Chaine competing for the number one jersey in domestic competitions, while Ofori and Siyabonga Mpontshane have made the matchday squads on a few occasions without getting a chance to play.
