Orlando Pirates striker Souaibou Marou is still set for a loan move next season, despite not leaving the club in the January transfer window.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, the Cameroonian was supposed to leave for loan in January together with his countryman Eva Nga but that move did not materialise.

Sources close to the club have indicated to Soccer Laduma that while Marou's contract comes to an end in June 2025, the club still want the striker get regular minutes at another club.

The source told the Siya crew that there are few clubs that have shown interest in the 25-year-old, both locally and abroad.

"There are other players who are still on the loan list and Marou is one of them. Yes the coach and the technical team has given everyone the chance in the second half of the season to prove themselves and though it's like that Marou is one of those who would still be sent on loan next season. It will only change if things happen in a different way but for now Marou is still on the loan list for next season," the source told Soccer Laduma.

The source added that there are three teams locally believed to be looking at getting the Cameroonian on loan for next season.

"Yes there are three teams in the DStv Premiership which are interested in him but there is also a team overseas that wanted him even before he came to Pirates that has inquired about him again. That team doesn't want him on loan. They want to sign him permanently but since he still has a running contract with Pirates they have to meet all the demands by Pirates. But yes there is interest in the striker," the source added.

Marou has so far played only two games in the DStv Premiership  this season, while he also has two appearances in the early rounds of the CAF Champions League.

Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but there was no response at the time of compiling this story.
