In a few months from now, Edmilson Dove will be eligible to sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice, but it appears Kaizer Chiefs are not ruling out the possibility of keeping the defender beyond the end of the season.

The Mozambican international signed a two-year deal when he joined the Soweto giants early last campaign and while talks have not officially opened over a new deal, indications are that club management are looking into offering the former Cape Town City star an extension, possibly a two-year contract.

Since making his return from injury, the dreadlocked player has made three appearances, playing at left back. He has not entirely covered himself in glory during that period, notably being found wanting for Khanyisa Mayo’s winner in their most recent match on Tuesday. Last season, under the tutelage of Arthur Zwane, he played as a left-sided centre-back, making 25 appearances in all competitions.
