After waiting in the shadows of other midfielders last season and then on the verge of being released by the club, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou has come back stronger and he is a regular in this campaign.
Due to his performances this season, the Siya crew understands that the technical team has recommended that the former Moroka Swallows midfielder remains at the club for at least another year.

Siya sources have indicated that the 25-year-old could have been offered a one-year plus another year extension option on his current contract ahead of the expiry of his deal in June 2024.
"The technical team is happy with his attitude and performance this season and they are the ones who have recommended that he be kept at the team for at least a further year," said the Siya source.
"And management had decided to offer him that one-year contract plus a one-year option. His current contract ends in June 2024 so that means he could be at the team until 2026 if the team exercises the one-year option.
"I can't say how far the talks have gone but I can tell you they want to reach an agreement before December this year so that he is not eligible to be a free agent in January. But I think everything will be fine by December," the source told the Siya crew.
Another source told the Siya crew that the technical team may want more competition in the position that Matlou is playing in and he gives them more options.
"He brings in a different dimension to the team and to their game. That's why the technical team wants to keep him and management has agreed to that. It is unfortunate that last season he didn't play that much but this season he is giving the coach (Molefi Ntseki) what he is looking for in that attacking position," said the other Siya source.
"As for the new contract, the talks are ongoing and nothing has been agreed yet but things are looking good from both sides," the source concluded.
