While there is no agreement in place regarding bonuses for the Carling Knockout final, TS Galaxy captain Mlungisi Mbunjana has described chairman Tim Sukazi as a generous man who will give the players an incentive.

Galaxy are set to take on Stellenbosch in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, the club's first cup competition decider since they won the Nedbank Cup back in 2019, when they beat Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

An opportunity to win a first knockout competition as a top flight club is now on the cards, which also comes with the possibility of some extra cash in their bank accounts.

"We don't really talk about those types of things because we just want to keep our focus on the game. But other than that, we have a chairman who is very generous, a chairman who is a good human being. I've worked with him for quite a long time, so I know if we win or lose, I know he is someone who is generous and I know that he is someone who will give us something, an incentive if we manage to be champions," Mbunjana told media on Wednesday afternoon at the club's training grounds.

The Galaxy squad has changed completely from the side which upset Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup in 2019, so the current generation is determined to write its own history.

"It will mean a lot to us. People when they talk TS Galaxy, they always talk about 2019 when they beat Chiefs. From that squad, none of those players are here. We are a whole different squad, as well as the technical team. None of the players who won the Nedbank Cup are here, so it's a whole new group that wants to write their own history. So, I think it would mean a lot to us," the Bafana Bafana midfielder said.
