Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch's move to Mamelodi Sundowns has been a major talking point over the past two weeks in South African domestic football.

Defensive legend Ronnie "Mainline" Zondi speaks to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview about the transfer and he believes that this is a signal that the rest of the Pirates squad has to step up, to rise as new stars.
"This is the right time. It's time for other players to stand up and show that they can be counted and do the work for the team. Yes, we have to agree we will miss him but if you look at both the young and experienced players who are there in the team this is their chance to show up and make sure that they do the job for the club," Zondi urged the rest of the squad.
Zondi added that Bucs have been performing without Lorch for most of the past season, and reminded the players that they can progress without him.
"Remember there were times when he was out and the team continued playing and they were doing well. Even now they should just do that. Play as a team and make sure the team is doing well.
"As I said before, if you are used to a player like Lorch you will miss him when he is not there. There are players who were playing at times when he was not available and gave the best for the team. Let those players be given more time and chances to play now as well. That's football. Players come and go but the team remains," Zondi concluded to the Siya crew.
Patrick Maswanganyi has been a success so far this season and he is one of the players expected to prove himself in the absence of Lorch for the rest of the campaign.
