Talking to the media ahead of their MTN8 Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium, the Tembisa born player said it was a great honour to be given an opportunity to wear the famous black and white colours of Pirates.
"No, I didn't expect to move to Pirates. It was a last minute call and I was told that I will be joining Pirates. That was a surprise to me but I was excited to come and join such a great team," Maswanganyi told the media.
"I can't say my life has changed. I am the same person that I have been for a few years back. My life is the same but obviously I am grateful I have the opportunity to showcase my talent at Pirates.
"And with the coach's help I am learning a lot of stuff to help my game improve but it means that I have to work harder and not disappoint."
The former SuperSport United midfielder added that he is honoured to be playing with players like Vincent Pule, Thembinkosi Lorch and Monnapule Saleng as he is learning a lot from them.
"It feels amazing for me and I am able to learn a lot from them. They have been here and they know what it means to be here. They have been playing in big games and I am just starting now.
"I speak to them almost everyday and ask them to help me. They help me at training and before games and I am grateful that I have people like them around me," Maswanganyi observed.
