A footballer is fighting a Premier Soccer League club for money believed to be in the region of R100 000.

Abram Ngcobo has revealed to the Siya crew that Motsepe Foundation Championship side Marumo Gallants owe him from the side's participation in the CAF Confederation Cup last season. According to the player, there was an agreement 'in black and white' for bonuses to be paid following their exceptional run to the semi-finals of the competitions, where they lost out to Tanzanian giants Young Africans.

Ngcobo, however, has opened up to the Siya crew, saying he has not been paid money owed to him by the club and has won a case against them at the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber.

"We played in the CAF (Confederation Cup) last season and the club did not fulfill their promises. It was written down in black and white. I have won my case against them. Since I won the case, the club appealed. After they appealed, they could not pay for that money for the appeal. So the appeal did not go ahead because they were unable to pay for it to go ahead. So, I am still waiting for my money from the club," Ngcobo, the former Sundowns goalkeeper, said to the Siya crew.

Ngcobo revealed that he has also sought help from the Football Union Of South Africa (FUSA), giving them credit for stepping in during this difficult period for him. According to Ngcobo, the matter is now at arbitration with SAFA.

"So, it's been about four months since I won the case and they have not paid. The union sent me a message on January 31, saying we have won the case. They owe me 30 percent of the agreement. The matter is still at arbitration (at SAFA) and we are waiting for a response. For now, we do not know when they will come back with a final decision."

The Siya crew got in touch with club official Rufus Matsena, who referred the matter to chairman Abram Sello.

When the Siya crew got in touch with Sello, the chairman had stated he was going to be busy for the next 10 minutes.

Efforts were made to call Sello again, but the chairman did not answer calls. The Siya crew also sent the chairman a message to get a comment on the matter of Ngcobo, but no response was received by the time this story was published.

The Siya crew also spoke to FUSA chairman Tefu Mashamaite, who confirmed that Ngcobo won the case.

"Yes, it's true that he won the case. And there are other players as well who were involved in that. It's the issue of bonuses from CAF (Confederation Cup). Marumo Gallants has got a lot of cases. Marumo Gallants has to pay Ngcobo."
