Patrice Motsepe, the mining mogul and Mamelodi Sundowns owner hoping to become the next CAF president, has released a 10-point plan ahead of the elections.

On Thursday afternoon, the 59-year-old launched his manifesto at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg and highlighted how he wants to make his mark as the head of Africa’s football motherbody.
With Ahmad Ahmad ineligible to run for re-election on March 12 due to a corruption scandal hanging over his head, Motsepe will contest for the CAF presidency alongside three other candidates in Augustin Senghor (Senegal), Jacques Anouma (Ivory Coast) and Ahmed Yahya (Mauritania) at a venue in Morocco.
The Downs supremo has received backing from COSAFA, which has the most voting block among CAF member associations, and he also travelled to the recent Fifa Club World Cup held in Qatar to canvass for more support.
But what happens on the day of the elections in Rabat is anyone’s guess…
Motsepe released the following 10-point plan, which will be his foundation should he be elected as the next CAF president.

- Investing in developing and growing football in each African country and building partnerships and sponsorship with the private sector and other potential partners.
- Improving the efficiency and professionalism CAF's competitions and its staff.
- Implementing and adhering to governance and auditing global best practices.
- Investing in African football infrastructure.
- Investing in our youth and in the future of African football.
- Developing and growing women's football.
- Protecting the integrity and professionalising refereeing.
- Video assistant referees (VAR).
- Statutory reforms.
- Partnerships with FIFA and other continental governing bodies.
He further expanded on these at the press conference in Sandton.
