Former CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns have been drawn into a group which will see them playing against Fagrie Lakay's side, Pyramids FC.
Sundowns, who will be playing in the MTN8 final this weekend, booked their spot in the group stages after beating Tanzanian side Bumamuru FC and will face Egyptian side Pyramids, TP Mazembe of DRC and Mauritanian outfit Nouadhibou in Group A.

The Premiership champions have finished top of the group in the last two editions of the competition, dominating the round robin phase. The only challenge for the club has been going all the way once they get to the knockout phase of the tournament.
Last season they were under 10 minutes away from reaching the final, but an own goal from defender Mothobi Mvala saw them being knocked out of the competition by Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
Sundowns finished the group stage campaign last season without a defeat, winning four and drawing two. This included an emphatic 5-2 victory over eventual champions Al Ahly in Tshwane, a game Sundowns supporters will most certainly never forget.

There will be a lot of pressure on the side to do well in the group stage campaign and go all the way this time, as they are looking to win a second Champions League title.
