Mokwena was overcome with emotion in the post-match interview but had nothing but praise for the players, technical team and supporters.
"Congratulations to this amazing group of players, I'm just very lucky to be their coach, congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns," Mokwena told SABC Sport TV.
"It's for the fans, it's for the yellow nation, it's for this magnificent group of players, it's for our chairman, unbelievable support he has always given to me,
"Bra Stan (Stanley 'Screamer' Tshabalala), it's for Yugesh (Singh), the technical staff, coach Manqoba (Mngqithi), coach Wendell (Robinson), coach Michael (Loftman) and this magnificent group of players, congratulations to everybody.
When asked what the success means to him personally, Mokwen added, "It's difficult to talk. The conditions are very difficult but God is good and God loves us all," he added.
Mokwena has now secured his first continental title with the Brazilians, who get their fist continental trophy since the CAF Super Cup triumph in 2017.
