A former Mamelodi Sundowns defender has given Kaizer Chiefs advice on how to tackle their upcoming CAF Champions League group stage clash against Wydad Casablanca.
Sundowns have played the Moroccans in four different editions of the competition and Wayne Arendse, who left the Brazilians towards the end of 2020 after spending eight years with the club, knows exactly what Amakhosi will go through when they face the club from Casablanca on Sunday.

The game will be played in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, after Chiefs were denied entry into Morocco due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“Wydad are known for their 12th player, their support base. Without that factor, it will be a different game. Because normally when we played against Wydad, the stadium was full and we could not even hear each other on the pitch. So, I think Chiefs will benefit from that factor,” Arendse tells the Siya crew.

“But Wydad are very tactical. They will keep their shape and punish you on your own mistakes. They know that South African teams have the pace and flair and that’s why they always keep it compact. It’s going to be vital for Chiefs to compact themselves, before opening too much. They have to be tactically disciplined. They also have to take the chances that they create. Even if they come out there with a point, it’s still fine. For me, they just need to be tactically disciplined.”
Amakhosi started their group stage with a goalless draw against Guinean outfit Horoya at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, February 23.
