Kaizer Chiefs icon Fani Madida has expressed his eagerness to support his former club in various capacities, including player scouting, amid their prolonged trophy drought. As Amakhosi navigate through challenging times, Madida, a legendary figure in the club's history, also acknowledges the need for the current management to be granted autonomy in steering the organisation forward.

In an interview with GameOn on Radio 2000, Madida emphasized the importance of allowing the club's leadership the freedom to operate without interference.

“One must say in every institution or most of the time, you can’t tell people that are running the institution how to run the institution.

“You need to give them the space to run it, unless they ask for your help then you can help them,” Madida told GameOn on Radio 2000.

Having served as assistant coach at Chiefs in the past, under Muhsin Ertugral over a decade ago, Madida reflects on his tenure, which yielded notable successes including two cup triumphs. Despite the club's current challenges, Madida remains committed to contributing positively, citing his deep-rooted connection to Amakhosi.

“I’m always available to help, I’m today the person I am because of Kaizer Chiefs,” Madida said.

Furthermore, Madida delves into his passion for nurturing young talent, recalling his role in signing George Lebese for Chiefs during the 2008/09 season. Demonstrating his commitment to providing opportunities, Madida highlights the importance of paying forward the opportunities he himself received.

“George Lebese was signed by me at Kaizer Chiefs because Muhsin Ertugral was not in the country at the time.

“So, when Bobby (Motaung, football manager) came with George that’s when I phoned Muhsin and said there’s a beautiful player...

“That’s how we signed George Lebese. So, all those things I do them because of the background I have given them that I was given an opportunity so I give others an opportunity,” Madida said.

Madida's unwavering dedication to Chiefs underscores the deep bond between the club and himself. As Chiefs prepare to resume their DStv Premiership campaign against relegation-threatened Richards Bay FC on Sunday, Madida's sentiments resonate with many legends of the club and their hope for a return to success on and off the field.
