"For me Lucas Ribeiro from Sundowns is the best signing of the season. He is a great player. He creates goals, he has been scoring also and I think he's the top goalscorer at Sundowns and the league as well if I am not mistaken.
"That just shows how good he is. But let's not forget Patrick Maswanganyi from Pirates. He is also a good player. He makes the the team tick. He creates a lot of chances. Scores goals and he is a hard worker. He is a winner and he's one of the leaders in the team," Mathe observed.
Mathe however added that TS Galaxy striker Samir Nurkovic and Stellenbosch FC defender Ismael Toure are the other two standout signings for the season.
"You see Nurkovic from TS Galaxy? He started slowly but gained his confidence and he's been scoring a lot of goals for the team. He holds the ball well for them to attack and score goals. He has been an important signing for Galaxy and he has been outstanding.
"However the most underrated but one of the best signings is that centre back for Stellenbosch FC. I think he is from Africa. Ismael (Toure). He has been solid at the back and the team has conceded less goals so far and also scored important goals for them. From these four players one of them should be the player of the season. They have done well for themselves and their teams as well," Mathe concluded.
Toure is from the Ivory Coast, and so far, Ribeiro is indeed the leading goal scorer with 11 goals in the league.
Mathe's insights emphasizes the appreciation for versatility, goalscoring and leadership qualities. With the season reaching its crescendo, the spotlight remains firmly on these exceptional talents as they vie for individual recognition amidst fierce competition on the field.
