With much uncertainty regarding his future as interim head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, Cavin Johnson has hinted at a possible stay upon the resumption of the DStv Premiership in February.

Johnson was brought in as an interim measure back in October to steady the Chiefs ship, which under the guidance of Molefi Ntseki, appeared to be sinking.

The 65-year-old, to his credit, has appeared to do just that.

In the seven games which he has overseen, Chiefs have managed four wins, one draw and have suffered just two losses. His streak includes three consecutive wins over Moroka Swallows, Polokwane City and Richards Bay respectively.

While there is no guarantee that Johnson will remain in charge of Chiefs when the DStv Premiership resumes in February upon the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations, the coach has revealed that he is ready and willing to continue if they do decide to continue with him.

“If I am in charge of the team in this mini-break, I’ll work harder than ever before, because we want to start 2024 in the same positive mode as we have ended 2023,” Johnson told the club’s media department.

“I have already planned what we are going to do. It is not just Cavin Johnson; it’s the great technical staff I work with, and we are all working together so that we see a much better Kaizer Chiefs when we restart the league,” he said.

Chiefs resume their league action with a tricky encounter against TS Galaxy on 13 February.
