Cavin Johnson appears to have impressed many in his role as Kaizer Chiefs interim coach, with the club’s former defender Isaac Mabotsa hoping that he will be given a chance as the head coach.

Since taking over from Molefi Ntseki in October, Johnson has led Chiefs to four wins, one draw and two losses in the league.

Amakhosi are 6th on the log and just one point behind 5th-placed Orlando Pirates and 11 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mabotsa is hoping that Johnson can continue improving the team to possibly land the Chiefs coaching job permanently at the end of season.

“I believe that if someone is doing well, he deserves to be given a chance. Arthur (Zwane) had done well as a caretaker coach when he was given a chance as a head coach but unfortunately things didn’t go well for him,” said Mabotsa, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

“The coach has done well so far and if he continues from where he left off when the team returns, there is no way that the club will turn their back on him,” he said.
