Cape Town City extended their unbeaten run to four matches after they edged Royal AM in a seven-goal thriller on Sunday afternoon at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
The Citizens went ahead within the first three minutes thanks to Rubein Bamana, who curled a stunning shot into the top corner.
Bamana doubled the lead for City four minutes later after he connected well with a free-kick from Gabriel Amato.
Thabiso Nzoyiya pulled a goal back for Royal AM shortly after the restart after converting a cross from Bandile Dlamini.
The same combination brought Thwihli Thwahla back into the game as Nzoyiya made it 2-2 and completed his brace after he was set up by Dlamini again.
15-year-old Emile Witbooi restored the lead for the Citizens ten minutes into the second stanza and Cee-jay Bezuidenhout gave the Cape Town side a two-goal cushion with ten minutes to go from the penalty spot.
Sisanda Mbhele pulled a goal back for Royal AM in the last two minutes but City held on to a narrow win in a seven-goal thriller.
