Kaizer Chiefs 2-2 Chippa United

Kaizer Chiefs’ four-match winning streak in the DStv Diski Challenge came to an end after a 2-2 draw against Chippa United at the Tsakane Stadium on Saturday.

It was perfect start back to the fold for the Chilli Boys, as own-goal from Khulumani Ndamane gave them the lead well on the 16th minute spell.

Chiefs rallied back though before the close of the first half and saw Neo Bohloko bag the equaliser in pretty decent finish after the Chilli Boys went to sleep at the back.

The Gqeberha-based boys regained the cushion midway following the second period as Francis Kayden popped up in the box to finish off substitute Thando Francis’ cross.

However, the lead didn’t last long and watched the Amakhosi go back on level terms again where Bohloko happened to be at the perfect place and time to find the net and complete his brace.

It’s not the way how the Glamour Boys particularly would have wanted to start the year, whilst the Chilli Boys who crushed Mamelodi Sundowns 4-0 in their last match are unable to claim a succession of wins.

SuperSport United 1-2 Stellenbosch FC

Stellenbosch FC made a perfect start to the year and bagged a fifth straight win in the Diski Challenge after overcoming SuperSport United 2-1.

The reigning champions, who have had a difficult defence to their title thus far, looked to resume the campaign on a high under new man Rod Hendric following the departure of Thabo September.

Stellies put the Tshwane giants on the back-foot in the opening minutes of proceedings courtesy of Shaakir Ahmed and were able to take the deficit well into halftime period.

Matsatsantsa pulled level albeit late in the second half courtesy of a telling finished executed by none other than Thabang Mahlangu.

However, the Maroons bounced back to get the winner through Mervin Boij and moved top of the table.
