Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has broken his silence on claims that he is on the verge of ditching the national team to take up the Tunisia head coach position.

Much has been said this week, both locally and abroad, about Broos' future as Bafana coach.

Tunisian media reported that Tuesday's thrilling 3-3 draw against Algeria would be the 71-year-old's final match in charge of Bafana Bafana, whereafter he would assume his position with the North African giants.

Speaking to the media after the game, Broos confirmed that he will still be in charge of South Africa in June and that he has had no contact with the Tunisian FA, playing down the links simply as rumours.

“I know as much as I read. I saw it in the newspapers, and I expected the questions from journalists. So there is no contact between me and Tunisia. There is nothing at all for the moment,” he told journalists in French after the match.

“The only thing I know is I can believe the journalist is that I am only a candidate, that’s all.

“On the other side we must not forget that I have a contract with South Africa, so if at any moment I could or I wanted to leave South Africa, it will be SAFA that decides.

“So once again for the moment there is nothing except for rumours and I will still be here in June I am sure."

Broos boasts an impressive record as Bafana coach with just six defeats from 32 matches, which includes 16 wins and 10 draws.

Since then, SAFA released a video where coach Broos is seen talking to his players in the Bafana change room and asking, "Why should I leave such a good team as you?"

Broos also hints that there's "nothing" in the speculation linking him to the likes of Tunisia.
