Samuel Eto'o has reportedly not spoken to Cameroon's Andre Onana since the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

President of Cameroonian football Samuel Eto'o has reportedly not spoken to a certain Manchester United star, who plays for the national team, since the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

With the Indomitable Lions seeking their first win of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday when they take on Gambia, a spotlight has been shone on FECAFOOT chief Eto'o's relationship with goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The pair were believed to fallout at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 after the shot-stopper was sent home early for disciplinary issues before retiring from international duty.

Onana, who then represented Inter Milan, has since returned to action to Rigobert Song's side, but caused controversy when he joined up with his teammates late for the tournament in Ivory Coast.

The 27-year-old played in the Red Devils' recent 2-2 Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur, missing Cameroon's opening match of the competition.

According to Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler, Onana and Eto'o have not spoken since the World Cup issue, with their relationship described as "broken and irreconcilable".

Cameroon are in action on Tuesday in a must-win clash against Gambia and will only advance from Group C if they better Guinea's result against Senegal.

Since becoming president in 2021, Eto'o has become somewhat of a divisive figure in his country, while recent rumours claimed he fell out with head coach Song following their 1-1 draw with Guinea in this AFCON's first round.

While those reports have been refuted by FECAFOOT, pressure is expected to pile on the former Cameroon defender should his team fail to make it to the next round of the competition.
