With Neymar now recovering from a serious knee injury with Saudi Arabia giants Al Hilal, the Brazilian reportedly regrets leaving one of the European giants he played for.

When Neymar bid farewell to Barcelona in 2017, many were baffled as to why the attacker left a star-studded Blaugrana side for a team that was still devoid of European pedigree in Paris Saint-Germain.
After joining Les Parisiens, the Brazil international endured a rollercoaster tenure in the French capital as injuries and persistent disappointment in the UEFA Champions League cast a dark cloud over the attacker's legacy at the Parc des Princes.
Disillusioned with their club-record signing and following the appointment of Luis Enrique, coupled with the acquisition of Ousmane Dembele, the opportunity for Neymar to leave the French giants presented itself during the past off-season.
According to Sport, Barca were interested in taking the skilful forward back to the Camp Nou, with new sporting director Deco even contacting the player's entourage. It is said the Mogi das Cruzes native was also eager to rejoin the LALIGA champions, but the Catalan giants were only able to offer PSG a loan deal or a low transfer fee.
For a brief moment, one of those options seemed possible before a multi-million offer from the Blue Wave arrived and derailed any plan Barca had of re-signing him.
Keen on recouping some of the €222 million (R4.4 billion) they spent to buy the player, PSG accepted Al Hilal's offer.
The same report claims that Neymar was, however, determined to join the Spanish giants, with the Saudi club and Barcelona even negotiating a possible loan deal, but financially, it was too complicated an operation.

It is suggested that Neymar wanted to make his way back to the club he was so successful with because he felt he made a mistake in leaving them, but with him now being 31 years old and dealing with a season-ending injury, it seems unlikely their paths will cross again.
