The relationship between Manchester United's Marcus Rashford and Erik ten Hag is reportedly reaching its breaking point, with some at the club worried the damage is irreparable.

According to The Sun, the Dutch tactician and the forward are hardly on speaking terms ever since it emerged that Rashford went partying in Belfast, Northern Ireland, until the early hours of the morning last month, ahead of a training session.

Ten Hag is said to feel that the player tried to deceive him by stating that the incident happened 24 hours earlier than it actually did.

It is believed the England international called in sick for the training session prior to their FA Cup encounter against Newport County, but it was later reported that he had chartered a private plane back from his time in the Northern Irish capital the morning of that training session.

The 26-year-old would miss that match against the third division side, but was reinstated for United's subsequent Premier League encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The United academy graduate would score in the opening minutes of that match at Molineux Stadium, but while his manager insisted at the time that the incident was behind them, the same report claims the relationship between them has not got any better.

This is the second time the former Ajax Amsterdam boss has had a disciplinary issue with Rashford. He was also not pleased with the attacker throwing a birthday party in Manchester's city centre after they were beaten by the reigning league champions 3-0 last year.

Staff at the club are now worried the relationship between the player and the manager has broken down to the point of no return.
