The Dutchman's future at Old Trafford is now up in the air following the arrival of the Red Devils' new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, which has coincided with a number of changes taking place throughout the club's hierarchy.

INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford is currently leading a structural review of United's recent recruitment, Omar Berrada is set to become the club's new chief executive and negotiations are currently ongoing to bring in Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director.

This could see a change in manager as well, with the record Premier League champions said to be evaluating the managerial market should they decide to fire Ten Hag at the end of the campaign.

According to ESPN, Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford's Thomas Franck and England boss Gareth Southgate are the three tacticians the Red Devils are looking at currently.

Ten Hag's stay beyond this campaign would likely be contingent on whether or not he is able to guide his charges to UEFA Champions League football next season.

If he does not, the same report claims the Mancunians do not want to be unprepared ahead of appointing his successor during the off-season, especially at a time when Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also looking to find new head coaches.

De Zerbi is on the shortlist for many clubs and is also appreciated at Carrington. Although Frank is currently embroiled in a relegation battle with the Bees, the new United hierarchy like the fact that he has embraced a data-led recruitment policy at Brentford.

Ashworth and Southgate worked together while the former was still at the Football Association, and with the same report suggesting that the latter could leave the Three Lions after the upcoming UEFA European Championship in Germany, he may have an outside chance of becoming United's next boss.
