Mauricio Pochettino has been announced as Chelsea's new head coach after Frank Lampard's spell as interim manager came to an end on the weekend.

The 51-year-old has officially joined the Blues on a two-year contract and will begin his new role at the start of July, as announced by the club.

Pochettino joins the Stamford Bridge-based club at a difficult time, a day after Lampard's 11-game run as interim boss came to an end.

The Englishman claimed just a single victory during his second stint on the Blues' sidelines, leaving many worried about the team's future and its bloated squad.

Graham Potter became the second manager sacked by the club's new ownership in April after Thomas Tuchel was replaced earlier this season.

Pochettino, 51, now returns to England, where he has previously managed Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, while his last role on the sidelines came at Paris Saint-Germain between 2021 and 2022.
