The Blues returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion on Monday night as they thrashed the Toffees at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer was the star of the show as he became only the fourth player in the club's history to score four goals in a single league game after Frank Lampard, Gianluca Vialli and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

While it be could be presumed that the England international's performance would be the centre of all the headlines, an incident that occurred involving a penalty seems to have overshadowed it.

After referee Paul Tierney awarded a spot-kick to the west Londoners in the 63rd minute, a fight over who would take it ensued between Noni Madueke, Nicolas Jackson and Palmer.

Club skipper on the night Conor Gallagher ultimately had to step in and advocate for Palmer, who had already scored a hat-trick, to be the one who takes it.

The 21-year-old slotted the ball into the back of the net to move level with Erling Haaland at the top of the league goalscoring chart, but the squabble between the attackers did not go down well with their boss Pochettino.

After the match, the Argentine tactician made his feelings known about what happened as he claimed that there was no place for such occurrences in his team.

"Palmer is the penalty taker. It won't happen again, can't behave like kids again," the Murphy native said, according to Fabrizio Romano.

"It's a shame. I told the players this is the last time I will accept this type of behaviour. This is not a joke. Again, very clear. Cole Palmer is the penalty-taker.

"Next time they're all out. It's not a joke.

"It's impossible, after a performance like this, to have this behaviour. We have to learn a lot if we want to be a great team."
