Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou says the Africa Cup of Nations and Asia Cup are just as important as the European Championship.

The North London outfit are set to lose captain Son Heung-min for a few weeks as he joins up with South Korea at the Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, a number of teams in Europe will also lose their African stars for the AFCON, which gets underway next month.

“You know I won it, don’t you?” Postecoglou said when asked for of the Asia Cup

“So I rank it pretty highly, I think it’s pretty important.

"A lot of European people think the Euros are pretty important - well, it’s the same for the Asian Cup or the African Cup of Nations.”

The Australian tactician also aimed a little dig at Son ahead of the Asia Cup.

“I hope Sonny goes on and finishes runner-up to Australia again, mate,” he said. “I’d be really happy about that.”
