One of Cristiano Ronaldo's sisters has seemingly taken a dig at Lionel Messi's 2023 Ballon d'Or triumph, after the Argentine extended his record over the Portugal captain.

The Inter Miami forward claimed the individual accolade for the eighth time in his career during a ceremony in Paris on Monday, leaving Ronaldo, who last won the award in 2017, in his wake.
Messi, 36, beat Manchester City's Erling Haaland to the Ballon d'Or despite the Norwegian's historic debut season in England, with many believing it should have been the 23-year-old on the stage accepting the Golden Ball.
Ex-Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Jerome Rothen called the decision "a disgrace", although it is thought the former Barcelona No. 10's inspired performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup proved the determining factor.
Ronaldo himself left laughing emojis in the comments section of a social media post that was critical of Messi's triumph earlier this week, and his sister, Katia Aveiro, has since done something similar.
Responding to an Instagram post this week, a picture of her brother posing with his five Ballons d'Or captioned "Earned, not given", Katia Aveiro commented with five applause emojis.
