Al Ahly’s head coach Marcel Koller has reportedly made an enormous request to the club’s president.

Since arriving at the Cairo International Stadium, Koller has achieved a lot of success with the Club of the Century.
The 63-year-old arrived at the beginning of last season and already has seven titles to his name, couple that with the two FIFA Club World Cup bronze medals and the Zurich native seemingly has as stronger case of being a success at the Ahly.
These triumphs have likely also brought a certain level of influence among the Ahly hierarchy and according to Al Watan, Koller has been utilising it as he views himself as being competent enough to take full control of the team.
The former Austria national team boss has requested to Mahmoud El-Khatib, club president, that he no longer wishes to work with a director of football as he feels it is not necessary.
The same report claims that he put the request on the table and stated that he feels he is able to look after the first team as a whole by his lonesome.

It is believed that El-Khatib told Koller that he and the rest of the club’s chiefs will study his proposal in the coming weeks to see how feasible it is to restructure the club in this way.
