This weekend, the Ravens will return to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in five years when they face off against Al Ahly.
The Congolese giants are the joint-second-most successful team in the history of the competition, only behind to their opponents this weekend, with their five continental titles.
However, the Lubumbashi-based side has only made it to the knockout stages of the tournament four times since they last won the Champions League in the 2014/15 campaign.
Lamine N'Diaye, the head coach who led them to their fourth CAFCL title in 2010, returned to the club last year and guided the team to the final four in his first full season back.
When quizzed on what has been the main reason for the outfit's resurgence in the tournament, he said the players are exhausted of seeing other clubs achieve great things on African club football's biggest stage.
"We have leaders who have a lot of ambition," the Senegalese tactician said, as per CAF Online.
"Going three years without a Champions League final is an anomaly for a club like Mazembe. I would also say that the players' burst of pride was a key factor this year.
