Amid the concerns of fixture congestion for Mamelodi Sundowns, Esperance de Tunis's head coach has expressed his fears concerning the accumulation of games for top teams in Africa.

In South Africa, there has been a growing conversation about the match pile-up concerning Masandawana.
Over the course of the next nine days, the DStv Premiership champions will be playing four matches in the league, the CAF Champions League and the Nedbank Cup.
With the expected expansion of the club competitions such as the FIFA Club World Cup and the African Football League, Blood and Gold tactician Miguel Cardoso was quizzed on Thursday as to what he makes of the drastic increase in matches for top clubs in Africa.
"This is a very interesting question," the Portuguese tactician told members of the media at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.
"Year by year, calendars are getting rougher and rougher for the players. For example, Esperance, in the last two years, we haven't stopped. For the performance of the players, this is not good, nor is it normal.
"It is something that concerns me I have to tell you, because I don't know when I will see my family. My family is based in Tunis and I only got to see my wife and son for four days, and I haven't seen my grandparents for four months.

"So if we do not stop, I will not see them. This happens with the foreigners, and even the Tunisians, that they do not have time for their families and other things that are important in maintaining the well-being of a human being.
"Of course, I am pleased to play games in Africa, I really enjoy the quality of the football here. I even spoke about this with the Europeans when I spoke to Canal Plus this week about how the football is growing and how things are becoming more professional.

"I don't see a big difference between Africa and Europe, except culturally. But the AFL competition, its makes the calendar very dense and the distances that need to be travelled are quite huge."
