Let's take a closer look...

Becoming better leaders

Themba Zwane and Ronwen Williams, who captain Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana respectively have both achieved a lot as leaders.

The duo joined their club teammates on a luxurious private jet flight to Dar es Salaam from Algeria after doing duty for Bafana in the FIFA Series.

To kill time on their flight to Tanzania, where they met up with the rest of the Downs team that drew to Young Africans on Saturday in the CAF Champions League, both Mshishi and Ronwen were reading the same book on becoming a better leader.

The experienced campaigners were seen reading John C. Maxwell's "The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader: Becoming the Person Others Will Want to Follow."

This book features one lesson on leadership per chapter and the author helps readers to navigate topics like commitment, discernment, initiative, relationships, and servanthood with practical advice on how to apply these principles in everyday life

"The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader" book could be one of the many sources of inspiration for Williams and Zwane, as they both have shown how pivotal their roles are in the national team and at Masandawana.

"Mshishi" is the heartbeat of Sundowns and Bafana's attack, making him the type of skipper that leads by example with his key actions in the final third, with both scoring and assisting.

Zwane's leadership seems to be well received by his teammates, whom he inspires and will hope to captain them to another continental crown by winning the CAF Champions League, after winning the inaugural African Football League.

Williams is a leader at Downs and Bafana, but wears the armband for the national team and his heroics at AFCON 2023 cemented his spot as the number one African-based keeper.

The ex-SuperSport United skipper led Bafana to a solid third-place finish at this year's AFCON and hopes to lead his country to qualifications for the 2025 AFCON and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
