Shabba Reveals His First Ever Salary
Kaizer Chiefs legend Siphiwe Tshabalala took to Instagram to reveal his incredibly low first salary.
His salary amount not only shows how high he climbed the South African football ladder, but also how lower division footballers can be exploited when it comes to payment.
Shabba says this salary came in the 2004, in that year he plying his trade at Alexandra United before making the big switch to Free State Stars for the 2004/05' season.
It remains unconfirmed if he earned this salary at a job away from football or in the game.
The 39-year-old was around the age of 19 when he got this meager salary, and posted in reply to Action SA politician Herman Mashaba' tweet:
My 1st job I was earning a mere R175k a month. I took it an opportunity to climb up a ladder and gain the experience I needed. I exploited my employer for gaining the experience and being paid for it https://t.co/zX5hZ0E0R6

Mashaba meant R175 and not R175 000, as he pointed out in a follow-up tweet, and Shabba shared a screenshot of Mashaba's post and wrote:
"My first salary was a 'mere' R200 back in 2004. How much was your first salary?"
