Let's take a closer look...

Reneilwe Letsholonyane's career journey

Former AmaZulu Youth Team coach, Reneilwe Letsholonyane sat down with journalist Lorenzo Kohler on "The Bettor Pod" by 10Bets, to reflect on his illustrious career in South African football.

The Soweto-born legend made over 50 appearances for Bafana Bafana, including two trips to the Africa Cup of Nations and a place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad.

He played for Cosmos, Chiefs, SuperSport, Highlands Park and TS Galaxy, making nearly 400 club appearances. Yeye spoke about how he managed fulfill most of his career goals as a footballer.

"I think my entire career was subconsciously planned and I realized that it was planned later in the years, and and I always say this; as a boy, who grew up in Soweto, who had a dream of playing professional football, playing for the national team, playing for a big club like Kaizer Chiefs and then also playing in the World Cup. That was just a dream, that was not guaranteed," says Yeye, mentioning that his career achievements were initially pipe dreams.

"When those dreams were unfolding when I was signed for Cosmos, already that box was ticked, but I was not aware... I played two years there, I move from Cosmos, I play for Chiefs, another box is ticked. Big club, the club that I grew up supporting. Only when I was there, I realised and said; 'I'm living my dream,'" says Yeye on the podcast.

Yeye ticked off many boxes over the course of his career, with a national team call up and a FIFA World Cup appearance following swiftly after his dream move to Chiefs in 2008, where he won four trophies including two league titles.
