Mamelodi Sundowns clinched their seventh consecutive DStv Premiership title in style, with an overwhelming 5-1 victory over a 10-man Kaizer Chiefs outfit at the FNB Stadium on Thursday evening.
Man of the Match, Tashreeq Matthews netted twice, while Matias Esquivel, Lucas Ribeiro, and Thembinkosi Lorch also found the net in a scintillating second half the Brazilians.
This victory ensured that Sundowns cannot be caught at the summit of the league table, with 62 points on the board and a 13-point lead over second-place, Stellenbosch FC.
This triumph marks Masandawana's 17th overall league title and it comes with an impressive six games remaining in the season.
Rulani Mokwena's troops have set their sights on finishing the campaign unbeaten in the Premiership, with a Nedbank Cup also to challenge for.
They boast an extraordinary 48-match unbeaten streak in the league, spanning across the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Their last league defeat dates back to September 2022, when they were beaten by neighbours, SuperSport United.
The players celebrated accordingly after the full-time whistle, popping champagne bottles and enjoying a big party in the Away Team change rooms.
