The story

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Banyana Banyana goalkeeper, Andile Dlamini, has been appointed as the newest ambassador for the Laureus Sport For Good Foundation SA.

In her new role, Dlamini joins a star-studded list of South African sports stars, who are, as stated by the Laureus Sport SA website, dedicated to leveraging sport to uplift youth in underserved communities.

Dlamini is the fifth footballer to join the list of Laureus Sport For Good Foundation SA ambassadors that includes her coach and Banyana legend Desiree Ellis, Amanda Dlamini, Lucas Radebe and Dean Furman.

World Cup-winning rugby legends Schalk Brits, Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana, Schalk Burger, Butch James, and Cheslin Kolbe are also on the list, with Olympians Wayde van Niekerk, Cameron van der Burgh, Akani Simbine and Natalie du Toit

Expressing her enthusiasm for the appointment, Dlamini emphasised her alignment with the Foundation's values, stating:

"It is an honour to be a part of an organisation that has the same core values as I do, by giving back to and creating opportunities for the less privileged

Morné du Plessis, Chairperson of the Laureus SA, mentioned the significance of athletes like Dlamini in advancing the Foundation's mission of community upliftment through sport.

The announcement took place at the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge at The Wanderers Club, where Dlamini was welcomed into the Laureus family by esteemed ambassadors and personalities from across South Africa, including sprinter Simbine and rugby legend Habana.
