SLTV: Mabunda: It Is Painful!
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Tiyani Mabunda has opened up about the passing of Sinethemba Jantjie.
The South African football fraternity was left shocked yesterday following the devastating news of the passing of Free State Stars’ Jantjie.
Speaking after their clash against Orlando Pirates, Mabunda opened up about how the passing of Jantjie has affected everyone in football, adding that it is painful how many times a footballer has lost his life in a car accident.
“It really pained me, at first I thought that it was one of the jokes that usually go on on the first of April, but it was really painful when I had to go through the emotions,” Mabunda told the media.
“I have been there, I know what the players are going through right now, I have been there when we lost my friend and it was the same.
“It’s really painful, not only for me, not only for the Free State Stars players and management but also for football as a whole. Jantjie has a good run at Free State, he was growing and growing, it is really sad to have lost one of our own and it is really painful that every time we lose a footballer it is the same problem, it’s a car accident,” he added.
