Cape Town City centre-back, Taariq Fielies, shares how life has been for him during the lockdown, his upbringing, and what one needs to play professional football.

Born and raised in the Mother City, the 27-year-old recalls playing football in the street without a care in the world. Falling in love with the beautiful game, Fielies recalls growing up in a good family home and being surrounded by good people.

After receiving his first professional contract, the defender shares how his journey led him to the PSL with the Citizens.

During this interview, Fielies also gave insight into his football inspiration, his ambition to play in Europe, and which clubs he’d play for within the Absa Premiership.

  • "It’s a beautiful game…"
  • "Your family is the important factor that you need…"
  • "If the Big Three comes along then…"
  • "Credit must go to him…"
  • "I’ve played in Cape Town all my life…"

Do you think that Fielies should be playing for one of South Africa’s top clubs?
