“I know how fanatical, South African football fans are and I’ve seen it up close, I’ve seen it as a player, I’ve seen it as a pundit and now I’ve seen it as an ambassador for the Champions League trophy tour,” Giggs said.

“It’s not only United fans, it’s Liverpool fans, it’s football fans in general and I know in South Africa, they’re big fans of the Champions League and also the Premier League and I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

“It wouldn’t survive without all the supporters from around the world, especially with Manchester United, it’s such a diverse group of fans and as a player, we are always thankful for that,” he added.
