SLTV: 'Sirino Needs to Be Mentally Strong'
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Pitso Mosimane has spoken more about Gaston Sirino and being disciplined on the field.
The Uruguayan picked up a yellow card in the second leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals with Wydad Casablanca last weekend, with Mosimane explaining that Sirino needs to be mentally strong when it comes to being cautioned on the field.
“I’m a bad loser you know me, but I will not go to the referee to say we lost because of the referee,” Mosimane told the media after Sundowns lost 2-1 on aggregate, missing out on a spot in the CAF Champions League final.
“This is Champions League, this is not the Absa Premiership, this is another level.
“So, we need to get matured, I spoke to Sirino after the match and I said that (the) referee speaks Portuguese and Spanish and Portuguese is very close, I said be very careful and I told him. The coach spoke about Sirino yesterday and I told him that they are going to attack at you, he is small in frame and he needs to be protected. He’s been kicked around. He needs to be mentally strong, and I am not qualified to help him, psychologically. I speak to him all the time, Ricardo speaks to him, Emiliano speaks to him. He loses it sometimes, he did it to Gomez and Gomez gave him a red card.”
“Today he made another foul and the referee spoke to him, if it was Gomez he’d be out,” Mosimane added.
