Pitso: Thank God I Got What I Wanted
Pitso Mosimane has explained the way Mamelodi Sundowns approached the game this weekend after initially leading 2-1 against ASEC Mimosas.
Sundowns secured a 3-1 win over Mimosas in the group stages of the CAF Champions League competitions, with Mosa Lebusa, Themba Zwane and Emiliano Tade all getting on the scoresheet on the night.
Speaking to the media after the game, Mosimane revealed that he was unsure whether or not he wanted his side to push for the third goal, or to seal it and secure a 2-1 win at the end.
“The question is, there (are) 15 minutes to go, do you go all out to score a third goal or do you seal it? It’s a difficult one because then I said to myself, am I going with this of going and going, it looks like the goal is coming, or am I going to seal it and take it 2-1 on the edge, but that’s why I made double subs,” Mosimane said.
“I put a defender and I put an attacker, then I get a balance, I put Thapelo in front of Anele.”
“So it gave us a little bit of balance because I put Suga (Tiyani) Mabunda a little bit in front of Ricardo and Mosa, because they had two strikers out and out, they wanted the goal, then I put Mabunda to play in front of the two but then I was short of one in the midfield, but I knew Thapelo with Mshishi they must play a little bit narrow, they must give me a little calmness, thank God I got what I wanted and of course at the end, put an attacker to seal the game,” he added.
