SLTV: Billiat Speaks: It Was Not The Best But…
Khama Billiat reflected on his season with Kaizer Chiefs while revealing what he thinks lies ahead for his country in the Africa Cup Of Nations competition.
While domestic and continental club competitions draw to an end this month, the AFCON will thereafter be underway later in June.
After a ‘not the best season’ with Chiefs in the 2018/19 campaign, Billiat will be heading off to national team duty with the Zimbabwean national team.
Speaking to the media, the 28-year-old admitted to how much harder he wants to work going forward, after Amakhosi failed to challenge for the Absa Premiership league title.
“As players we grow up, you want to fight for everything but not every time the chance comes the way you want it and like I said before, it’s always an opportunity to look at yourself and put more in your game before you ask your teammate to put more. We must look at ourselves first and I would love to be there every season but I want to work more hard. I am in the right place and I am still positive. Like I said, it was not the best season.”
Billiat then went on to discuss the upcoming AFCON tournament, revealing that playing in the PSL has been good for himself and his fellow countrymen.
“I think to be here and playing here, most of the guys from Zimbabwe, it really helps us a lot. We know how tough the league is and we try by all means to play the best football and challenge each other in the same league it really helps us. I think we connected very well because of PSL and like the first game is not going to be easy for us but I believe the players that we have they are doing well wherever they are,” he said.
