Former FC Barcelona and Inter Milan striker, Samuel Eto’o, opened up about his relationship with six-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi.

As one of Africa’s most decorated football stars, Cameroon’s all-time top scorer won two AFCON titles at international level and four UEFA Champions League winners medals with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter.

With a grand total of 360 goals over the vast length of his career, the four-time African Player of the Year revealed his close friendship with the Argentina international, what advice he gave the then young Messi as he broke into the first team as a teenager and the legacy the 32-year-old will leave when he decides to hang up his boots.

During this pre-lockdown interview, Eto’o also said…

  • "He would move from the B team to the first team…"
  • "He's achieved that through his own hard work…"
  • "He's still a good person…"
  • "He's always had that talent…"

Who do you think was the best African player to play in Europe?
