SLTV: Davids: Sundowns Will Be Carrying South Africa On Their Shoulders
Orlando Pirates assistant coach., Fadlu Davids has opened up about the Bucs’ run in the CAF Champions League, adding that it is now up to Mamelodi Sundowns to keep the dream alive for the country.
Pirates bowed out of the CAF Champions League group stages after a suffering a 2-1 defeat to Horoya AC in their final group A encounter.
“There are lots of factors when travelling and that’s the first point but you can’t blame the external factors, you know you are going to face it. We know the game against Esperance although we had a fantastic game we should have gotten the three points, the match against Platinum, of course, drawing these two home matches, you don’t want to go in to the last match needing a win especially in Conakry against Horoya we know their record against SA teams although we broke that at home,” Davids told the media yesterday.
“All those combining factors, you see it with Sundowns, they have a huge game, South Africa’s hopes are on them against Al Ahly to go through to the next round. We all as South Africans are hoping that Sundowns continue and they should know that they carry South Africa on their shoulders against Al Ahly,” he added.
